NDP: Ford’s new home care plan piles pressure on a system already hanging by a thread

QUEEN'S PARK - A recent announcement of a new home care program launching in Ontario, NDP health critic MPP France Gélinas (Nickel Belt) released the following statement:

“Ontario’s home care system is broken. The government can’t fix hospital overcrowding by piling even more pressure onto a system that’s hanging by a thread. Home care agencies can’t recruit or retain a stable workforce, especially when they underpay, overwork and let their personal support workers burn out. The number of missed appointments is already through the roof. Without addressing those fundamental issues, this plan is just setting patients and their families up for failures. Seniors and families deserve consistent, high-quality care, not another rushed, under-resourced announcement with no actual plan from this Ford government to fix our broken home care system.”
